I am always surprised by how people’s best intentions at the start of the year to improve their health and fitness can fade so quickly. By the second week of February, according to consumer research body the IHRSA, 80% of the New Year crowd at the gym have dropped off, with 50% quitting for good by March.
Within different individuals they have different needs, cramming in a few weeks training or healthy eating before their annual vacation to Gran Canaria, Wedding/Civil ceremony, the summer holiday’s or Pride the body is put through a huge shock…which if is continued throughout the rest of the year huge/positive changes will happen. But again this usually ends the day the event/holiday/vacation starts.
I positively encourage all of my clients to achieve their goals they have set themselves. Too many times I hear it’s ‘hard’, ‘I don’t have time’, ‘I’m too busy’…’everybody is looking (laughing) at me’…the only person you are fighting against is the demons inside. You need to be mentally ready to say ‘I want to change’, ‘I want to be healthy’, ‘’I want to live longer’…. with a healthy balance of diet, fitness and motivation ANYBODY can achieve these goals no matter your background, level of fitness, time of day you train, age or gender. Exercise should be one of life’s great pleasures, not a chore.
Even if your main goal is to lose the ‘Dad-bod’ or keep your youthful looks/energy, keeping track of your progress can be difficult but that’s where a personal trainer comes in.
